Droooool

I knew my friend Hisami was into cooking but I really had no idea what that meant until I looked at her blog. Her food looks exquisite. The thing is, she made the blog for her family back home in Japan so none of it is in English. But I don’t think you have to know what’s in it or even have to taste it to know this is the real deal in cooking. If she had a restaurant all the Jonathan Golds and Anthony Bourdains would be there. Yum.

Corina Cooks

Cooking is one of the most beautiful expressions of creativity and I always admire those who make it look easy under the pressure of a million orders. Corina Wiebel, owner and head chef of Canele, is one of the few. I got to cook in her restaurant and now I’m completely spoiled by spontaneous get togethers where Corina does her magic (Below are pics of the last one. Clams and muscles cooked in foil on the grill. Simple and yum). I love her creative expression. She sees all the details and sometimes it’s what she doesn’t do to her food that counts as much as what she does. For example, you won’t see sprigs of rubbish added on at the end like so many do to make up for what’s lacking. Cause nothing’s lacking.  It tastes amazing and it’s from the heart. www.canele-la.com
