Rebranding and packaging of Peter and the Wolf
I recently designed this double CD (English and Mandarin) of Peter and the Wolf, a classical music children’s CD in which animals represented by different instruments take a musical journey. The story is narrated by notable names such as Bill Clinton and Sophia Loren. Peter and the Wolf had to be completely rebranded so I went with a modern title treatment and color pallet that matched the feel of the forest without being too dark. Such a fun project. Ruel Pascal did an amazing job with the illustrations.
Underwood Typewriter
Found another typewriter at an estate sale. I swear I’m not obsessed with typewriters or estate sales. It’s just that the two sales I’ve been to both had a beautiful, irresistible machine. Maybe I’ll start collecting them? Besides stickers and erasers I’ve never collected anything and probably shouldn’t now (plus Ravi’s not fond of the idea) but these are just too good. From what I’ve discovered, this is an Underwood Noiseless 77, 1939 and was the same model that Hemingway used. Sweet.
Angelo’s Aliens
Had a project at work a while back that involved drawing aliens. Angelo’s were so great I made him draw some for me. Sometimes napkins work as well as paper.
Furry cards fur you
I snagged some fur from my creative neighbors James and Moritz. They love using faux fur for all kinds of projects/costumes so I thought it would be fun to use on some holiday cards.
Poinsettia growing on our neighborhood trees this Christmas!
Last year we hung oversized ornaments, this year Moritz handmade over 50 poinsettia flowers and decorated the trees infront of our houses. By far my favorite neighborhood decorations. Nice to do something different from lights and these almost blend in if you don’t know poinsettias never grow on cherimoya trees. Thanks Moritz!
Classical Geniuses
This card was a great exercise in content vs. space – two addresses plus all information had to also be in Mandarin. Thank God there’s two sides to a card! Although I designed the logo, the branding/look of Classical Geniuses had not yet been created and a website was simultaneously being designed so to ensure everything looked cohesive down the line, I kept it as simple as possible. Classical Geniuses is a company focused on introducing the arts to children. Working with a pre-existing wireframe, I also designed their Website
Salt’s Cure
Finally got my hands on the actual printed cards I designed a while back. Thanks to Kari Dyas of TwoUponTen for doing such a gorgeous job on the letterpress and to Chris and Zak for going along with my change of mind on the logo/branding (I originally designed a slightly different logo). Salt’s Cure is a new company that makes all kinds of delicious cured meats.
